Residency at La Fabrique de Theatre

During this three week long residency in September 2022, we began devising the first half of the piece. We were lucky to use a large and fully equipped stage and we provided with the help of two lighting technicians. This allowed us to progress swiftly in our understanding of synopsis and technical requirements.

The piece begins as the Welcome Desk of a big brand named Volvac. We decided to create a looping advertising video, playing in the back of the stage for the first 20 minutes or so. As people enter, a synthetic voice welcomes them and asks them to be seated. A few live demonstrations of products and a game to win a water extract were also devised. We also worked on the sound atmosphere of the piece with our sound artist Zacharie Viseur.

A first version of the masks for the Animalzz activist, made of tape, was used. Since then, we have decided to keep the idea of translucent masks, allowing to see the actors faces beneath, but they will be remade from worbla to make them more resistant and polished.
